Family
Program
Dear Family Member: The entire treatment team here at The Pavillon extends a warm welcome to you as a participant in our Family Program. Recovery and Healing are most effective when the family is involved in the process. The purpose of the Family Program is threefold: 1. To educate family about addiction and how it affects relationships 2. To empower family members to define their own needs and initiate their own recovery process 3. To learn how to support your loved ones in truly helpful ways as they continue in recovery. Usually family members attend the program towards the end of the patients stay in treatment. The site of the Family Program is the Pavillon Outpatient Services on 801 West Mills Street, (Hwy 108) Suite D, Columbus, NC. Outpatient Services is 1/4 mile west of the Columbus exit off Interstate 26, Exit 67. The building is on your left just after the KFC and before Mountain View Barbecue. Registration is at 8:30am on Monday. The schedule for all four days is 9:00am to 4:00pm with an hour break for lunch. The Family Program site is 16 miles from The Pavillon Campus. Lodging is available in Columbus, the town of Tryon, and Flat Rock, NC. Below is a list of lodging, a map, and program guidlines to assist you. During the first three days of the Family Program you will have time to familiarize yourself with the treatment program in many different ways. We will use lectures, group and equine-assisted therapy to present the Pavillon path towards recovery. You will have the opportunity to ask questions, express concerns, and receive support from staff and other family members. On Thursday, there will be communication groups led by counselors. The patients will join the family members in these groups. Structured groups will lay the groundwork for talking about what has been learned in treatment, boundaries which need to be stated, and continuing care plans. Please wear comfortable closes and shoes particularly on Tuesday when you will go to the ranch for the equine experience. Please Note: Those family members attending Family Program are not permitted to visit the patients the Sunday before the Family Program they are attending. Thank you for your understanding and support of treatment. If you have any questions regarding the nature of the program, please call me toll free at 1-800-392-4808 ext. 136.
Sincerely, Peggy Burke, M.A. |
